We live in a digital age, an age where our phones hold our secrets and our cookies leave the crumbs.

Every click, search, and page view tells a unique story, and by analysing these digital interactions, we don’t just learn about interest and demand, we uncover patterns of behaviour, preferences, and, intent. These insights help us not only to understand how people are engaging with medical cannabis in the UK, but more importantly: why.

So, we’ve decided to take a look at what our analytics data tells us about medical cannabis patients in the UK and, how people find out if they can start medical cannabis treatment, through a trusted and supportive clinic: Releaf.

We’ve split these findings into two main groups: existing medical cannabis patients, and prospective medical cannabis patients (AKA those looking into whether cannabis-based treatments might be right for them). We collected this data by looking at our analytical reports for June, and here’s what we found:

70,000 interactions on our patient dashboard in one week

The saying ‘start with something you know’ is famous for a reason, and so, to start off this blog, we took a look at what - or who - we know best: our existing patients, and their engagement with Releaf’s patient dashboard.

In seven days, the patient dashboard was viewed more than 40,000 times.

Our data analysis found there were 40,400 instances of individuals logging into their Releaf accounts and accessing the patient dashboard homepage between the 24th and 30th of June. This shows that in just one week, not only have thousands of patients have actively logged into their account to check in, but, they’ve logged in to manage real aspects of their health.

From their account homepage, patients can go on to:

  • Access copies of their past and current prescriptions
  • View their medical documents or our resources
  • Book in for appointments and see their consultation history
  • Apply for a travel certificate
  • Use the Refer-a-Friend scheme
  • Visit the Releaf shop
  • Order their prescribed medication

These interactions aren’t passive. They represent tens of thousands of decisions were made by Releaf patients seeking continuity, clarity, or control over their chosen treatment.

Releaf’s prescription ordering tab was visited almost 30,000 in just one week

Of these 70,000 patient dashboard interactions, just shy of 30,000 were individuals going to their prescription ordering tab. Again, please remember, this is in one week alone. The sheer volume of this activity reflects how important ongoing and flexible access to medical cannabis is for our patients.

At Releaf we offer patients the ability to part-order their prescription, meaning they don’t have to order and pay for their full prescribed quantity of cannabis oil, medical cannabis flower, or THC vapes all in one go. Instead, they’re able to return and check out as many times as needed, so long as they remain within the quantity limits established by their prescribing clinician.

As well as minimising the financial burden, part-ordering allows patients more confidence in their treatment as they’re able to order a small amount of their medication to make sure it works well for them, before ordering their full prescribed amount.

With almost 30,000 instances of the prescription ordering tab being accessed in one week alone, it’s clear this flexibility is greatly appreciated, and utilised, by individuals using Releaf’s supportive service.

Releaf’s medical cannabis eligibility checker was accessed almost 20,000 times in seven days

Now we’ve looked at the interactions we know are from existing Releaf patients, we wanted to turn our attention to those just starting their journey - to those exploring whether medical cannabis might be a suitable option for them, and turning to the UK’s most trusted clinic for answers.

When doing so, we found in the last week of June, our sign-up page and eligibility check was visited 19,300 times. That’s almost 20,000 people - or the entire population of Tewkesbury - wondering ‘Could this work for me?’ on a weekly basis

If this level of interest continued each week, more than a million people would turn to Releaf in a single year. This striking figure not only represents just how many people in the UK have unmet healthcare needs, but, how many are going out of their way to proactively seek out better care, more options, and personalised, flexible treatments.

Digging even deeper, we found 4,600 visits to our pricing page and 1,300 visits to our FAQ section occurred in the same week. These aren’t casual clicks, they’re signs of active, intentional, and personal research to see if Releaf could be the answer they’ve been searching for.

But it’s not just facts they’re looking for - it’s real stories too.

In the last 90 days our patient stories page was viewed almost 4,000 times (or 3,985 to be exact). Here, real Releaf patients with chronic pain, sleeping disorders, neurological conditions, mental health disorders and so much more, bare their truth and share their experiences with medical cannabis in the hope of inspiring others. They show that cannabis-based treatments aren’t only accessible: they’re transformational for so many in the UK.

Releaf ranks on the top page of Google for over 7,000 search terms

You might be wondering, ‘How are so many people ending up on Releaf’s website?’ and the answer lies in behaviour.

When you want to know the answer to a question, what's the first thing you do? Often, turn to Google. And thanks to our investment and commitment to SEO and content strategies, Releaf appears on the first page of Google for over 7,000 search terms (also known as keywords).

These aren’t just quick mentions - they’re full pages of accurate, accessible, and trustworthy cannabis-based information that we’ve made easy to find. And when people arrive on our site, they don’t just skim one page and leave. In fact, our statistics show that on average people view 5.5 pages per session - showing they’re getting answers to questions they didn’t even know they had, and accessing information they weren’t initially searching for, but soon decided they wanted.

This dedication has also translated into backlinks. People need answers from reputable, reliable sources, and we’ve become not only the most trusted clinic by current patients - but the go-to source for cannabis based information from the wider media, journalists, other industry experts, and independent platforms, with over 45,000 backlinks.

It’s one thing to speak, but it's another to be listened to - and this data shows that we are not only being listened to, but cited time and time again as a source of reputable information.

On the Releaf website, what are people searching for the most?

It’s not just search engines that help people find the answers they’re looking for. Earlier this year, we introduced a search bar directly on the Releaf website to help users find the information they need faster, without having to return to Google.

So, what are people most curious about once they arrive?

Our data shows the most popular searches relate to:

  1. Is medical cannabis the same as CBD?
  2. Cannabis cultivation
  3. Vaping / vapes
  4. Driving and medical cannabis
  5. Releaf’s shop

Each of these searches tells a story. A story of someone seeking clarity and confidence - and most importantly - control. For every single individual, we want to provide a clear, compassionate, and fact-checked answer.

What health conditions are people looking at cannabis treatments for?

Well, ‘who is searching for this information?’ might be the next question on your lips - and we’ve got an answer for that too.

It’s estimated that 46% of adults in the UK live in significant discomfort due to a condition that has been shown to respond to cannabis-based medicines, and so, it's unsurprising that many are searching for this alternative, or complementary, treatment.

But, what are the most popular conditions people are turning to Releaf for assistance with?

Well, looking at our analytics data, in the last 90 days over 3,000 people have viewed our chronic pain page, and our mental health page. Following on from that, 1,800 have turned to Releaf for more information about how medical cannabis can assist with ADHD, 1,600 have looked into cannabis-based treatments for neurological conditions like MS and fibromyalgia, and another 1,500 have viewed our dedicated sleeping disorders page.

For these individuals, it’s clear it's not generalised information surrounding medical cannabis they’re looking for - it's personalised, focused, and evidence-based information relating to their specific condition that matter’s most.

Final thoughts from Jon Dunn, Releaf’s Marketing Director, whose SEO expertise spans over 20 years.

“The phrase ‘it's a numbers game springs to mind’ - but not in the way most might presume. It’s undeniable that we’ve proven our standing as a popular source of information, as a reputable and reliable resource, and in turn, a successful business - but the numbers I’m truly talking about are the individuals behind the interactions - not the interactions themselves.

These figures represent tens of thousands of individuals that aren’t just curious - they’re ready to explore. They want to feel informed, understood, and heard. With every visit, whether it's checking their eligibility, exploring our pricing, or reading a personal journey, shows a step forward in taking control of their health, and finding a treatment that finally fits. We’re incredibly proud, and tremendously grateful, to be the source - and the service - that they trust to do this.”

As Jon mentions, these aren’t just clicks - they’re conscious steps towards better health.
