Medical cannabis is a legal treatment which can be taken in public. If you are planning to carry or take your prescribed medical cannabis in public, you must keep it in its original packaging with the label intact, as this contains crucial information about the medication and the person it's prescribed for. Also make sure you have your Releaf medical cannabis card with you, as this proves your legal right to carry and consume medical cannabis. Our blog has lots of information on the do's and don'ts of carrying and consuming medical cannabis at work, abroad and while driving.

That depends on few key factors. The type of medication you are using, the method of administration, your cannabinoid tolerance, and your metabolism can all impact how quickly you feel the effects of medical cannabis. When medical cannabis flower or oil is inhaled through a vaporiser, the effects will be felt within 5 to 10 minutes, and last around 2 to 4 hours. Medical cannabis oil can also be taken sublingually (under the tongue) or orally. Sublingual application bypasses the digestive system and allows the medication to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. The effects of sublingual application will be felt in 10 to 15 minutes, and last around 3 to 4 hours. Orally administer oil or capsules will need to pass through the digestive system and be metabolised by the liver before taking effect, which can take up to 2 hours. The effects of oral administration can last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. Topically applied oil, creams, or patches can take up to 90 minutes to feel the effects but can provide targeted relief for localised pain or inflammation for up to 12 hours.

Yes, we offer patients a wide range of medical cannabis cultivars, both irradiated and non-irradiated. We have recently partnered with Glass Pharms® to help shorten the supply chain dramatically, ensuring a much higher level of supply security for our patients. These cultivars are the first UK-grown medical cannabis options to be prescribed to UK patients. Our prescribing specialists will work with you to determine which cultivar is best for your specific condition and symptoms.

Medical cannabis oils are usually prescribed to be taken sublingually (under the tongue). When taking your prescribed oil sublingually, drop the oil under your tongue and hold it there for at least 60 seconds before swallowing. This allows the oil to be absorbed into your bloodstream through the thin lining of your mouth, bypassing the digestive tract and providing faster relief (10 to 15 minutes). The effects of sublingual oil last between 3 and 4 hours. Medical cannabis oil can also be added to drinks or just swallowed. This method does not bypass the digestive tract and results in a longer onset time (up to 90 minutes). Swallowed oil provides more gradual, and longer lasting relief (up to 6 hours).

Your prescribing specialist will work with you to develop a personalised medical cannabis treatment plan. They will consider your medical history and specific health needs. Based on this assessment, they may recommend a particular type and administration method of medical cannabis, such as vaporised flower for immediate relief or orally administered medical cannabis oil for prolonged effects.

Some medical cannabis options are 100% plant-based, while others may include additional ingredients. Dried medical cannabis flower is 100% plant-based. Medical cannabis oil may also contain additional carrier oils, most often MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil. Medical cannabis topicals (lotions, creams, balms) may also contain additional ingredients such as essential oils or other plant extracts.

There is no universal answer to this question as it ultimately depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you are prescribed a cannabis-based medicine and your prescribing specialist recommends taking it in the evening, they will suggest a time based on your medical condition and desired effects.

That depends on what CBMP(s) you have been prescribed. Medical cannabis products can contain a range of therapeutically active compounds - cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBN, etc.) and terpenes (myrcene, limonene, beta-caryophyllene, etc.). Medical cannabis oils may also contain carrier oils - usually MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides). Depending on the health condition being treated, patients may benefit from a product made with an isolated cannabinoid or a combination of cannabinoids and terpenes. Your Releaf prescribing specialist will work with you to find the best combination of compounds for your specific health needs.

Don't worry if you forget or miss a dose. Just take the prescribed dose when you do remember. It is not recommended to take a larger dose or your next dose at a faster interval to make up for the missed dose. CBD products sold 'over the counter' are classified as Novel Food Products, meaning they are subject to less regulatory oversight than medical cannabis options containing CBD. Prescribed CBMPs in the UK are classified as a medicine and adhere to strict quality standards. They can be formulated to specific dosages to meet the individual needs of patients, with the supervision of a medical professional.

Most UK private cannabis clinics source from the same regulated suppliers. Therefore, the medication you have previously been prescribed may be available at a different clinic, but there is no guarantee. We have recently partnered with Glass Pharms® to help shorten the supply chain dramatically, ensuring a much higher level of supply security for our patients. We have a range of Glass Pharms® grown cultivars that are only available to Releaf patients.
