One of the more common questions our new patients have is: "Who will I meet at Releaf?"

It's a great question and one worth answering in detail.

While each patient's experience is unique, every treatment plan is overseen by one of the GMC-registered specialists, who are supported by nursing and GP staff. Together, they make up our world-class clinical team of more than 25 health professionals.

Who are the doctors at Releaf, and how do they help?

At Releaf, your medical cannabis treatment journey starts with an initial consultation with one of the GMC-registered specialists we’ve handpicked to join our team.

Each specialist comes from diverse backgrounds in medical specialities, including rheumatology, neurology, pain management, and psychiatry, and they truly are the heartbeat of Releaf.

You can request to see any one of our specialists, or we can help you select the best fit for your health needs and goals.

Headed up by Dr. Sue Clenton (Medical Director/Oncology Specialist), our clinical team includes:

Why do I need to see a specialist, and not just a GP?

Under the current UK regulations, cannabis-based treatment options can only be prescribed for the first time by a specialist doctor. The reasoning behind this decision is due to the complex nature of medical cannabis treatments and the need for a doctor with specialised knowledge in this area.

Your treatment plan will then be reviewed by our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) before your medical cannabis prescription is confirmed and sent to our pharmacy partner, Xeal Dispensary.

Once your treatment plan has been confirmed, you may have follow-up appointments with your chosen specialist or another member of our clinical team, including GPs and prescribing nurses.

What is the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), and why is it important?

Our MDT includes members of the clinical team and support staff who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive patient care. Instead of relying on just one nurse, doctor, or specialist to oversee your treatment, our MDT brings together expertise from all members to create a well-rounded, personalised treatment plan based on your specific health needs.

How does the Patient Support Team assist you?

As with the Releaf clinical team, our Patient Support Team is always here to help - our friendly, knowledgeable staff are dedicated to your care. They are ready to help with:

  • Or any general questions about medical cannabis treatment in the UK
