ECS: Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system is the system within the human body that facilitates cannabis when it is consumed, enabling it to have medicinal or intoxicating effects on its user.
The endocannabinoid system is an internal network made up of CB1 and CB2 receptors that can influence biological responses. Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids, to bind with these receptors to trigger certain reactions. Cannabinoids that are synthetically manufactured and those that come from the cannabis plant, phytocannabinoids, interact with the ECS in a similar way, which is how cannabis can have medicinal effects on the body.
