Broad Spectrum
Broad Spectrum medical cannabis products are made using a cannabis extract, with the exclusion of THC.
Broad-spectrum medical cannabis products are derived from the whole plant, which contains all the therapeutically beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes, with the exception of THC. These products are ideal for patients who do not want to experience the psychoactive effects of THC, but still want to benefit from the medicinal properties of cannabis.
How does broad spectrum cannabis work?
It is widely accepted that, when taken at the same time, cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes work in synergy with one another to boost their medical effects on the body - this theory is known as the entourage effect.
Because broad spectrum products contain a wide range of cannabinoids, including CBD, CBN and CBG, as well as a host of terpenes and flavonoids, they are believed to induce the entourage effect without inducing a ‘high’ - because THC is only present in trace amounts.
Are broad spectrum cannabis products legal in the UK?
Yes, broad spectrum cannabis products are legal in the UK so long as they have met industry standard guidelines and regulations, and do not contain more than 0.2% THC or more than 1 mg of THC per container.
Is broad spectrum CBD safe?
Broad spectrum products are considered to be safe to take in moderation. Although, like with any additional health or wellbeing based supplement, it is always best to get specific advice from your healthcare provider because broad spectrum CBD products may interact with other prescribed medicines.
What kind of broad spectrum products are available?
Broad spectrum CBD is available in various forms, including tinctures, gummies, drinks, capsules, edibles, topical products, and vapes. Each form offers a different method of administration, which all come with their own pros and cons, so the broad spectrum CBD market can cater to a wide range of personal preferences and needs.
