Capitate-Stalked trichomes

Capitate-stalked trichomes produce large quantities of cannabinoids and terpenes. Capitate-stalked trichomes structures are made of a stalk with a waxy head and are visible to the naked eye.

 

What are trichomes?

 

Trichomes are tiny, hair-like structures that are found on the surface of cannabis plants. These structures contain resin glands that produce and store cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds that give the plant its unique characteristics and therapeutic effects.

 

What part of the cannabis plant produces trichomes?

 

Trichomes are found in the largest quantity covering the flowers and 'sugar leaves', although they are also present in much smaller amounts on other parts of the plant, such as the stems and fan leaves.

 

What do trichomes look like?

 

Trichomes can vary in appearance depending on the stage of plant growth and the strain being cultivated. They can be clear, milky, or amber in colour and can range from a small fleck almost undetectable to the naked eye, to a larger 'mushroom' shaped crystal. The more mature the plant, the more amber the trichomes will be.
