Cannacap

A capsule made from a dissolvable digestible shell containing medication for oral consumption.

Cannacaps are taken orally  to deliver specific doses of cannabinoids at regular intervals or when symptoms arise. There are a range of different cannacaps available to patients with varying ratios of THC:CBD to suit different medical requirements.

Are cannacaps legal in the UK?

Yes, cannabis-based medicines are legal in the UK with a prescription from a registered specialist. The recreational use of cannabis is still illegal in the UK, and carries penalties for possession, use, and distribution.

Are there any side effects of using cannacaps?

As with any medication, there is a risk of side effects. Most patients will tolerate cannacaps (and medical cannabis more generally) well, but some may experience mostly mild and manageable side effects. The more commonly reported side effects include dry mouth, dizziness, and changes in appetite.

Some patients may also experience a sense of joy or euphoria if they have taken a dose that is too high for their needs.

It is important to follow the dosage requirements set out by the prescribing specialist and to monitor for any potential side effects. If you have any concerns or experience adverse effects, consult with your medical team.

What conditions are cannacaps commonly prescribed for?

Orally administered CBPMs, including cannacaps, have been prescribed for conditions such as chronic pain, neuropathic pain, spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury, and nausea and vomiting relating to chemotherapy.
