CBDV: Cannabidivarin

Cannabidivarin (CBDV) is a non-psychoactive, non-euphoric cannabinoid found in landrace cannabis varieties low in THC.

Cannabidivarin (CBDV) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It is closely related to CBD (cannabidiol) and shares many of its potential health benefits, but has a slightly different chemical structure. It is often found in cannabis strains that produce low levels of THC, like hemp.

How does CBDV work in the body?

Like many of the other minor cannabinoids, there is still a lot of further research needed before we fully understand the compound.

Preliminary research has shown that it does not bind directly to the cannabinoid receptors in the body, but may interact with them indirectly. It is thought to modulate the effects of other cannabinoids and influence their therapeutic effects, and probably acts on other chemical pathways - much like CBD.

Is CBDV safe?

Yes, CBDV is considered safe for consumption. It has not been found to have any significant side effects and is well-tolerated by most people.

Do cannabis-based therapy options in the UK offer CBDV?

CBDV is not currently available as a prescribed medicine in the UK, although it is being studied for its potential use in treating certain conditions. However, many cannabis-based products on the market may contain varying levels of CBDV, depending on the chemical makeup of the source plant.

Can CBDV get you high?

No, CBDV is a non-psychoactive compound and does not produce any intoxicating effects. It does not bind to the same receptors in the brain as THC, which is why it does not cause a "high" feeling.
