Dr Ishfark Ahmed is a General Practitioner at Releaf, bringing over 12 years of clinical experience since graduating with Honours from Keele Medical School in 2013. He joined the Releaf team in June 2025, motivated by a strong alignment with the clinic’s mission to deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care in the evolving field of medical cannabis.

In his role, Dr Ahmed is responsible for assessing patient suitability for cannabis-based treatments through comprehensive clinical evaluations, educating patients on safe usage for conditions such as chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia, and tailoring treatment plans to optimise therapeutic outcomes. He is deeply committed to staying informed on the latest advancements in cannabinoid medicine and contributes to destigmatising its use through patient support and community engagement.

Prior to joining Releaf, Dr Ahmed developed a strong interest in orthopaedics, taking a dedicated year-long rotation in musculoskeletal medicine and surgical care before beginning GP training. This hands-on experience continues to inform his clinical approach, particularly in managing patients with pain-related conditions.

Dr Ahmed plays a key role in helping Releaf meet its broader goals of expanding safe access to cannabis-based therapies, improving patient education, and advancing evidence-based applications of cannabinoid medicine. He is particularly excited about the year ahead, focusing on broadening access to effective treatments and helping shape the future of this transformative area of healthcare.
