Bryant is a digital media creator who is involved in music, photography and videography. Having recently moved to the UK from Bermuda, Bryant is currently in recovery from throat cancer. Unfortunately, the medications he was taking for symptoms linked to his condition and treatment left Bryant suffering from some heavy side effects.
But having undergone treatment in the United States, where both medicinal and recreational cannabis is largely legal, he was cautious about sourcing cannabis in the UK. He was worried about being scammed during his search for medical cannabis treatment. However, having conducted his own research and compared potential providers, Bryant decided to go ahead and check his eligibility with Releaf.
In his story below, Bryant tells us more about his experience of medical cannabis treatment and how it has helped him better manage his symptoms.
Could you tell us a bit about your condition and symptoms before starting medical cannabis?
I'm in cancer recovery. I had throat cancer. I use medicinal cannabis to help with soreness, body soreness, and anxiety. I get fatigued a lot, and if I sit or lie for a long time, I get body soreness. I tried pills, but they were very strong for me, and I didn't like the side effects.
A lot of the time, you feel burdened by the side effects. Depending on the medication, I had depression, anxiety, or overall body sickness. With medicinal cannabis, I don't get any of that.
What made you turn to medical cannabis?
I had my cancer treatment in the United States, where medicinal cannabis is legal. When I came here, I couldn't get it unless I sourced it illegally, and I didn't want to go down that route. Since starting to take cannabis, it helps me sleep through it, so those symptoms aren’t as prevalent.
I’m able to just take medical cannabis.
How did you find the sign-up process with Releaf?
Pretty easy. I thought it was great. I learned how the system works. I’ve never encountered receiving cannabis in the post before, so that was pretty cool.
I liked the packaging, and I got the starter kit.
How would you describe your dosing routine and treatment effects?
I take it in the morning and late afternoon. Probably twice a day. I haven’t had any side effects. It's helped reduce a lot of the pain. I'm sleeping better.
Before, I would wake up in the middle of the night sore. The oil helps me get a full night's sleep, and I don't wake up as sore. If I am sore, it helps get rid of it early. I seem to have better quality sleep. I'm relaxed.
Have you told your friends and family about your treatment?
Yes and no. I spoke to one friend who is a ‘regular’ cannabis user, but he’s also had bike injuries. He thought it was a scam. A lot of people think it's a scam. I thought it was a scam myself because it seemed too good to be true.
But I did my research. I had ChatGPT do searches. I compared providers to find out who had the best quality, and Releaf was at the top.
Why did you decide to share your story today?
My brother passed away from cancer. I find a lot of people in the UK are afraid of the doctor, so I don't mind helping people see that it's not a scam and that real people can do this. I'm trying to get people I know who need it to sign up.
What advice would you give to people contemplating medical cannabis?
Don't be afraid of it. Give it a try. You know, you find that in the States, a lot of elderly people on heavy medications are switching to marijuana because it gives the same feelings without a lot of the side effects.
I didn't enjoy the side effects of hard medication, so I'd rather stick to Releaf medical cannabis.
