Considered a leading cannabis campaigner in the UK and having been pushing for change at the highest levels for fifteen years, Greg de Hoedt has a deep passion for improving cannabis policy. Greg holds a degree in Filmmaking from UCA and is founder, editor and publisher of The Quarter Leaf magazine on medical cannabis, culture and activism. As the founder of the UK Cannabis Social Club he has direct experience working with patients, running campaigns like Right2Grow and creating the model cannabis clubs operate under in the UK which gained support of multiple police forces. Greg is no stranger to the mainstream media appearing in every major publication over the last decade with morning and prime time TV guest appearances on the BBC and Sky News. Helping to establish the legal cannabis industry in the UK, and consulting for companies in Europe and the USA across the sector has made Greg a go to guy on weed. Greg has worked closely with Members of Parliament, local councils, Police Crime Commissioners and harm reduction charities to educate, inform and make progress to cannabis policy in the UK. Greg is a Crohn’s Disease patient that switched 16 different medications for just cannabis in 2011 after a terminal prognosis which he beat thanks to access through medical marijuana dispensaries in the US. Ever Since he has been on a mission to help provide the same level of access he received over a decade ago.

Patients respond to national press over medical cannabis policing

Amidst the five year celebrations since the UK medical cannabis laws came into effect, the Guardian has released an article by Mattha Busby highlighting some patient testimonials of police incidents caused by their lack of understanding of legal medical cannabis prescriptions. Rather than an attempt to spoil the festivities planned for the week, it highlighted that some patients were being failed by the very system that was set up to protect them.
